Clearly Innocent ($5.50) remains the outright favourite in Stradbroke Handicap betting markets at Ladbrokes.com.au despite drifting, ahead of Mackintosh ($6) Counterattack and Ulmann; currently sharing the third line at $8 odds.

Will Clearly Innocent justify favouritism and win the Stradbroke Handicap, or will one of his talented rivals post an upset?

Ulmann ($8)

Consistent gelding Ulmann has returned to racing in typically smart form this time and should prove extremely tough to beat under the conditions of the Stradbroke Handicap. Delivering a smart field a resounding defeat in the Listed Wangoom Handicap (1200m) first-up on May 3rd, the Sebring gelding ran on well to finish third in the Group 3 BRC Sprint (1350m) upon arriving in Brisbane and has since trialled extremely well on the Sunshine Coast. The horse is drawn ideally in barrier 5, will have no issue performing to a high standard with only 53.5kgs in tow and will be partnered by Luke Nolen.

Gold Symphony ($21)

Gold Symphony has form around several strong performers this time in and is undoubtedly over the Stradbroke Handicap odds at his current quote. Third behind subsequent Group 1 winner Tivaci in the Listed Carrington Stakes (1400m) in January, the Reward For Effort gelding stormed home to win the Listed National Sprint (1400m) in Canberra on March 5th; beating the likes of Happy Clapper by two lengths. Having resumed for a credible third in the Listed Luskin Star Stakes (1300m) at Scone in May, Gold Symphony has also trialled well leading into the Stradbroke Handicap and has conditions to suit this afternoon.

Mackintosh ($6)

Mackintosh has not been seen at the races in 2017, but is a proven first-up performer and should be right in the finish of the Stradbroke Handicap. A dominant winner of the Group 2 Theo Marks Stakes (1300m) in spring, the Pins gelding is a proven performer at the class of this race and against many of his Stradbroke Handicap rivals, and should find a good position in transit close to the pace from the rails draw this afternoon. With the notable advantage of in-form hoop Kerrin McEvoy in the saddle, Mackintosh will carry only 53.5kgs.
