A talented and capacity field of eighteen has been confirmed for Saturday’s featured 2016 Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) at Eagle Farm; offering punters exceptional value from a betting perspective and several key opportunities to place a winning wager.
Classy mare Azkadellia has continued to firm into $3.40 favouritism in 2016 Stradbroke Handicap betting markets at Ladbrokes.com.au, ahead of Black Heart Bart ($5.50) and three-year-old Counterattack ($7).
Will Azkadellia justify her resounding favouritism and win the 2016 Stradbroke Handicap, or will one of her talented rivals claim an upset?
Under The Louvre ($13)
Under The Louvre is something of a forgotten runner in the 2016 Stradbroke Handicap field, but has returned to racing in typically scintillating form this time and represents terrific value for money at current $13 odds for success. Placed multiple times in Group 1 company, Under The Louvre returned to racing this time for third in the talent-rich Listed Bel Esprit Stakes (1100m) on April 23rd before running on for second in the Group 1 The Goodwood (1200m) at Morphettville three weeks ago. Sure to relish a step-up to 1400m, the Excellent Art gelding has been charged with carrying only 54.5kgs, will be partnered by last-star hoop Dwayne Dunn and should relish the big Eagle Farm track in the Stradbroke Handicap.
Black Heart Bart ($5.50)
Black Heart Bart has undoubtedly found career-best form since transferring to the care of Darren Weir this year, but will have to lug a race-high 58kgs in the Stradbroke Handicap and may require luck in transit from barrier 10. Running an agonizingly-close second in the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap (1200m) first-up on March 12th, the Blackfriars gelding returned to winning form in the Group 3 Victoria Handicap (1400m) before again finishing second in the Group 1 All Aged Stakes (1400m). Having broken through for a maiden win at the highest level in The Goodwood last time out, Black Heart Bart has been confirmed to be partnered by regular hoop Brad Rawiller in the Stradbroke Handicap.
Azkadellia undoubtedly has the class to win the 2016 Stradbroke Handicap, is drawn ideally in barrier 5 and will be partnered by Damien Oliver, but undoubtedly faces her biggest test of the year amongst this classy field. Resuming for second in the Group 3 Bellmaine Stakes (1200m), the Shinko King mare returned to winning form in the Group 3 Mannerism Stakes (1400m) before running a close second in the Group 1 Coolmore Classic (1500m). Placing third in the Group 1 Doncaster Mile (1600m) on Day 1 of The Championships, Azkadellia charged home to win the Group 1 Queen Of The Turf Stakes (1600m) only one week later. Having savaged the line for second in the Group 1 Doomben 10,000 (1350m) a fortnight ago, Azkadellia is a leading chance of a first three finish in the Stradbroke Handicap.
