Malaguerra has fast stamped himself as one to watch for Lee and Anthony Freedman and remains outright $4.50 favourite in early 2016 Stradbroke Handicap betting markets with leading online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au.

Beginning his racing career under the guidance of Wez Hunter, Malaguerra has posted an impressive nine wins and two minors through only sixteen competitive starts so far.

Capping a strong 2015 campaign with success in the Emirates Airline Plate (1400m), the Magnus gelding resumed this time for success in the Listed Bob Hoysted Handicap (1000m) before repeating the dose in the Group 3 Kingdom Stakes (1200m) on March 26th.

Azkadellia has returned to racing in typically slick form this time and remains outright second favourite in early 2016 Stradbroke Handicap betting markets.

Concluding 2015 with a commendable performance for third in the Group 1 Myer Classic (1600m), the Shinko King mare resumed this time for second in the Group 3 Bellmaine Stakes (1200m) before winning the Group 3 Mannerism Stakes (1400m).

Running second in the Group 1 Coolmore Classic (1500m), Azkadellia produced an impressive late turn to foot to finish third in the Group 1 Doncaster Mile (1600m) before breaking through for a maiden win at the highest level in the Group 1 Queen Of The Turf Stakes (1600m) last time out.

Ciaron Maher saddled last year’s winner of the Stradbroke Handicap in Srikandi, and appears as though he is on course to repeat the feat this season with Azkadellia.

Interestingly only two other runners currently figure at 2016 Stradbroke Handicap odds of less-than $10, as Black Heart Bart and Happy Clapper share the third line at generous $9 quotes.

A former Perth galloper, Black Heart Bart has undoubtedly kicked up a gear since arriving at Darren Weir’s stables this season.

Producing a big performance to run an agonizingly-close second in the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap (1200m) first-up, the Blackfriars gelding returned to winning form in the Group 3 Victoria Handicap (1400m) last time out.

Happy Clapper gained ballot-free entry into the Doncaster Mile with success in the Group 2 Villiers Stakes (1600m) in summer, and has secured a number of particularly exciting results for Pat Webster this year.

Running fourth in the Group 1 Canterbury Stakes (1300m), the son of Teofilo progressed to fifth in the Group 1 George Ryder Stakes (1500m) before placing second in the Doncaster Mile and third in the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) most recently.
