Claiming a third consecutive victory when storming home to win the Listed Silk Stocking (1200m) on the Gold Coast at generous odds last time out, Maher told TVN the Dubawi filly’s fast-found class more than warrants an inclusion in the 2014 Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival’s headline race.

“She is absolutely flying and every time I take her to the races she improves” Maher said.

“She’ll run in the fillies and mares race here on Saturday then we’ll see what happens.

“You have to aim high sometimes.

“Here work here (in Brisbane) was outstanding this morning.

“We’ll just see what happens, but she is certainly moving in the right direction.”

Breaking through for an impressive full length victory amongst classy competition in the Slickpix Plate (1000m) on debut in September, Srikandi has returned to racing in near-perfect form this season; finishing a close second in the Drain Main Fillies (1000m) first-up on February 28th before securing three impressive back-to-back victories in the Brown’s Sawdust & Shavings 3.y.o (1200m), Carlton Draught Fillies (1200m) and Silk Stock most recently.

As revealed by Maher, Srikandi is likely to accept a position in the final field for this weekend’s Listed Juanmo Stakes (1200m) at Brisbane’s Doomben Racecourse, for which she is likely to claiming outright and overwhelming favouritism.

Maher has also included the exciting three-year-old in nominations for the each of the Group 3 Fred Best Classic (1350m), BenchMark 95 Handicap (1200m) and Group 3 BRC Sprint (1350m) this weekend, with final fields and barrier draws on Wednesday to determine the path taken this weekend.
